Emel works at Osman's club. There she meets Kemal and they fall in love. They decide to get married. Kemal's man Mahmut, gets Kemal into a pretended drugs business and causes Kemal to go to Tehran. Kemal writes letters to Emel but they are kept by Mahmut and Emel never sees them. Mahmut calls Kemal to Istanbul.

A young couple lives apart for years during an accident, each assuming that their spouse has died. The man becomes a famous singer and the woman loses her sight in an accident. Years later, the man happens to meet a girl and, without knowing what the girl has to do with him, treats the girl's mother and his wife. The man intends to marry a wealthy woman, but on the wedding night, the wife and child come to thank him, and thus the old couple find each other again after a long time and start a new life together.

The title character is a tight-fisted rich old man who has recently fallen in love with "Golnar", the beautiful daughter of "Rustam-Beik", a bankrupt tradesman. The father who is looking for a way to pay his debts, concedes to their marriage. But Golnar loves a young beau named "Sarvar". Mashhadi Ebad finally wins the day and prepares for the wedding ceremony. On the wedding day, however, the tides turn and Sarvar manages to make Mashhadi Ebad not only disappointed by the union, but also bound to paying back all his debts to Rustam-Beik.

Towards the end of the Shahanshah's reign, Sergeant Makvandi is assigned the commander of the gendarmerie station in a small town. A stern disciplinarian, Sergeant Makvandi tries to impose order at the station but, being as degenerate as his subordinates, he fails to re-store discipline. faced by rebellious crowds, he imposes martial law, but people outwit him by mailing to his address a forged letter which "promotes the sergeant and ends the curfew". Makvandi tries to intimidate a school teacher into writing a song which he wants the students to sing on the day his "promotion" comes into effect. But the teacher refuses to give in, for he and his students are preparing to sing a new song, the song of revolution.
